
Overview
Established in 1963, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and largest departments of Basaveshwar Engineering College, Bagalkote. The department offers a B.E. programme with an annual intake of 120 students and has a recognized Research and Development Centre offering M.Sc. (Engg.) and Ph.D. programmes under VTU, Belagavi. It is also a recognized QIP Centre of AICTE, Government of India. The B.E. programme is NBA-accredited under the Tier-I framework aligned with the Washington Accord up to June 2028. Faculty members have successfully completed sponsored research projects worth over Rs. 300 lakhs, published over 500 research papers along with books and book chapters and guided 66 research scholars to Ph.D. degrees. Supported by Government funding agencies such as DRDO, DST, CSIR, NRB and VGST, the department provides excellent research facilities, strong industry interaction, industrial exposure and career opportunities in both core and IT sectors.
