The ultimate goal of education is to discover the meaning of life and its fulfilment for the benefit of mankind as well as for oneself. The pursuit of education is to acquire knowledge to serve humanity with modest culture and wisdom but it is to be noted that, knowledge is not given but earned and character is not granted but cultivated.

Basaveshwar Engineering College (BEC) not only focuses on the theoretical curriculum, but also assists in imparting practical knowledge leading to the overall development of a student personality from all perspectives. Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

The department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was established in the year 1991-92 with an intake of 30 students. The department has been imparting Quality Engineering Education and is grooming students in all fields like Technical Competency, Overall Personality Development.

Well Qualified dynamic faculty members, highly dedicated and experienced non-teaching faculty are the forte of E&IE Department. The faculty members are encouraged to take independent initiatives with collective responsibility in all the relevant academic activities, such as teaching, curriculum development, and continuing education - organizing workshops, student development programmes and seminars.

The department was started with a vision of imparting quality technical education in the field of Measurements, Biomedical Instrumentation, Automation in Process Control, DSP, Embedded Systems, Sensors and Transducers, Control System and host of core subjects to meet the emerging technological needs of the industry and at the same time upgrading the knowledge of faculty in cutting edge technology so as to enable them to disseminate the value added courses to the student community. The curriculum is designed to encourage our students to use all their basic and advanced subject knowledge with some common sense to understand the industrial needs. It also has a great concern to the overall development of the students with ethical values and social awareness. As the college has got academic autonomy under Visvesvaraya Technological University, there is enough freedom to design the curriculum to keep us in track with the changing trends in engineering education. It also owns the responsibility of uplifting the community by shaping the student to have a successful professional career leading to better quality of life thus fulfilling the social obligations of the society.

All these activities are very well housed under a spacious, disciplined and dedicated premise with an area about 670 sq.mtrs which includes separate laboratory rooms, computer room with full fledge LAN and WiFi connection, HOD/staff rooms and independent seminar hall with proper safety measures.

Department regularly organizes seminars and workshops on current technical topics which keeps the students aware of the ongoing trends in the field of technical education. As a result of well planned curriculum and teaching assistance students are placed in reputed core as well as IT industries. Honeywell, Yokogawa, Siemens, Qualcomm, Broadcom, TCS, JK Cement, Online Instruments, Mindtree are to name a few.
