Karnataka ICT Group (KIG 2020) was formed under the leadership of Mr. Mohandas Pai and Mr. B. V. Naidu which was charted to develop Karnataka’s roadmap to undisputed global leadership in ICT by the year 2020.In the state budget 2013=14 it has been announced as follows “To encourage entrepreneurship and innovation it is proposed to establish incubation Centres in ICT sector in association with selected engineering colleges at district headquarters.” The program is designed to give preference to students, research scholars and alumni of the chosen colleges compared to those from other colleges in the district. The program will be more tuned to students and alumni from emerging ICT Centres catering to the problems of local needs rather than following the incubation Centres in big cities that look at global problems.
The current incubation models that are prevailing are infrastructure support incubation centres or academic-focused incubation Centres. However, it is essential to create new age incubation Centres at all the 7 Centres with the active support of the industry. Some of these incubation Centres can be further strengthened to focus more on IP/Product development as “Innovation Centres” Entrepreneurship development and mentoring are one of the ten initiatives of KIG 2020 for creating new opportunities and jobs. One of the tasks under this head is to build ‘Karnataka New Age Innovation Network’ to be located in the chosen colleges that are in the nine emerging ICT Centres.Objectives of Incubation center- The main objective is to encourage students, research scholars and alumni to share their ideas to solve chosen problems which are local centric and to validate, Refine and Nurture ideas
- Incubation center shall provide an ecosystem to convert ideas into proofs of concept and upgrade them to a level of commercial value
- After successful incubation, encourage and lead the teams towards setting up a business enterprise
KBITS The Karnataka Information Technology Services (KITS) was established as a Society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, to achieve the objectives contained in the Millennium Information Technology policy. To sustain and maintain the present pre-eminent position of Karnataka and Bangalore in the field of Biotechnology Karnataka Information Technology Services was renamed as Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS). This organization helps the Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology in facilitating and promoting the Information Technology and Biotech sectors in the state. KBITS assists the Directorate of Information Technology and Biotechnology, for administering incentives and concessions to Information Technology and Biotechnology companies. KBITS promotes the growth of IT & Biotech companies by way of organizing, sponsoring and participating in National/International Workshops, Conferences, Exhibitions etc. KBITS has been instrumental in organizing the annual tradeshows viz BangaloreIT.biz (earlier called as BangaloreIT.in), Bangalore BIO and Bangalore Nano.

Bangalore Bio the flagship Biotechnology Event in India is promoted by the Department of Information, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka and the Vision Group on Biotechnology has emerged as the largest congregation of India's Biotech community generating tremendous interest and response worldwide.
KBITS enables to project the State and its potential for investments, implementation of its policies and programmes, assisting industries in getting quick clearances, administering incentives and concessions announced in state policies. KBITS provides secretarial services to the State Level Single Window Agency and High Level Committee, for quick clearance of the Information Technology and Biotechnology Projects in the State. KBITS assists the Directorate of Information Technology and Biotechnology, for administering incentives and concessions to Information Technology and Biotechnology companies. KBITS is made single point stop for providing all basic information that facilitates the establishment of IT & Biotech Industries in the State. KBITS is the Nodal Agency for implementing the decisions of Vision Group on IT and Vision Group on Biotechnology.
